Matt is a licensed and certified genetic counselor at the University of Virginia. He co-founded UVA's multidisciplinary HHT Clinic in 2015 where he provides genetic counseling to patients and their families with HHT. In the HHT Clinic, Matt educates patients about their condition, offers genetic testing when needed, helps patients share their diagnosis with their relatives who may also be at risk, and provides counseling and support to those in need.
Matt graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Science and Technology (ISAT) and Psychology in 2004. He received his Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2007. After graduate school, Matt joined the University of Virginia as a genetic counselor in the Department of Pediatrics. In 2014, he established the UVA Cardiovascular Genetics Program and serves as the co-director.
