Dr. Mendelsohn attended the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA after graduating Magna Cum Laude from Yeshiva University in New York. Here at UCLA, Dr. Mendelsohn quickly focused on voice and throat disorders and ultimately devoted an entire year towards the in-depth study of voice disorders. He continued his training in the Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery residency program at UCLA where he was ultimately awarded for his teaching in the role of Chief Resident.
Dr. Mendelsohn received fellowship training in the United States and Europe. Locally, he studied the treatment of voice and airway disorders at the UCLA voice center for the arts. Following, Dr. Mendelsohn received fellowship training in Trans-Oral Laser Surgery (TLM) and Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery (TORS) at the Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium.
Currently, as Assistant Professor of Surgery, Dr. Mendelsohn is enhancing a specialized clinical practice with focused research interests. Notably, Dr. Mendelsohn’s research findings have been repeatedly recognized at the national level. By studying the underlying mechanisms of voice production in order to preserve its function, Dr. Mendelsohn is at the forefront of endoscopic and minimally invasive head and neck surgery.
Dr. Mendelsohn's surgical practice concentrates in Throat cancer (tonsil cancer, tongue cancer, laryngeal cancer, vocal cord cancer), Voice disorders (care for vocal performers and the professional voice), and Obstructive sleep apnea.
