Dr. Sean Polster is a fellowship-trained cerebrovascular neurosurgeon and Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Chicago. He specializes in the treatment of complex neurovascular conditions, including arteriovenous malformations, aneurysms, and cavernous malformations, with a particular interest in the care of patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT).
Dr. Polster plays a key role in the University of Chicago’s Multidisciplinary HHT Center, providing specialized care for patients with cerebrovascular manifestations of HHT and collaborating closely with a team of experts across multiple disciplines to ensure comprehensive evaluation and management.
His clinical and research interests focus on the biology of vascular malformations, mechanisms of hemorrhage, and the development of minimally invasive surgical strategies. He is actively engaged in NIH-funded research investigating the molecular and immunologic underpinnings of vascular brain injury, and his work aims to improve outcomes for patients with both sporadic and inherited neurovascular disease.
